Post-Season FAQ

Division Winners

(Juniors, Intermediate) The team with the best regular season record in inter-league play will be declared the division winner. Northwood division winners will earn a spot on our Wall of Fame.

(Majors, AAA) The team with the best regular season record will be declared the division winner, and earn a spot on our Wall of Fame. The top two teams in the division by record will receive trophies. In case of ties, the NWLL tiebreaker rules will determine the final order of finish. 

(AA) There will be a Final Two playoff to determine the regular season division champion, who will earn a spot on our Wall of Fame. The top two teams by record in the Texas League and the Southern League will play a single elimination tournament in order to determine the AA division winner. In case of ties, the NWLL tiebreaker rules will determine which teams go on to participate. The final two teams in the tournament will receive trophies. The remaining teams will also play a single elimination tournament to determine final division standings. 

(A Ball, Rookie, Tee Ball) All teams in these divisions will receive participation trophies at the end of the season. 

NWLL Tournament

(Majors, AAA, AA) Starting in May, each upper division will compete in a single elimination tournament to determine a tournament champion. The seeding will be by order of finish in the regular season. For AA, the final standings per the division playoff will determine the tournament seeding. The first place and second place teams in each division tournament will receive medals. The tournament winner will receive a spot on our Wall of Fame.

(A Ball, Rookie) Starting in May, these divisions will play seeding games to determine seeds for the tournament. The teams for the seeding games will be assigned randomly.  The NWLL tournament for these divisions will be double-elimination. The first place and second place teams in each division tournament will receive medals. The tournament winner will receive a spot on our Wall of Fame.

(Tee Ball) Starting in May, Tee Ball teams will compete in a single elimination tournament with modified scoring rules. Seeds will be assigned randomly.  The first place and second place teams will receive medals. The tournament winner will receive a spot on our Wall of Fame.

ICCT Tournament

(Majors, AAA, AA) After the conclusion of the NWLL Tournament, these upper divisions will play a series of pool  games against each other and teams from Irvine Ranch Little League, to determine which teams will play for the Irvine City Championship Tournament (ICCT). In Majors, the top 8 teams in pool play will play in the ICCT. In AAA, the top 4 teams in pool play will participate. In AA, the top 6 teams in pool play will compete. The ICCT will be a single elimination tournament. The final two teams in each division will receive medals. Tournament winners will be added to the ICCT tournament trophy, and Northwood tournament winners will be added to our Wall of Fame. 

Tournament of Champions

(Juniors, Intermediate, Majors, AAA) The Tournament of Champions (TOC) is a single elimination tournament between the top teams from leagues within District 55 (i.e. Aliso Viejo, Laguna Niguel, etc). This year, D55 will allow the top two teams in Majors and AAA as determined by regular season record to compete in the TOC. TOC will take place from May 29 - Jun 4.

Rules for TOC play differ from the regular season rules in effect in NWLL. As such, umpires, managers, coaches, scorekeepers and tournament directors must undergo mandatory training. 

All-Stars

This year, Northwood Little League will be choosing four All-Star teams to compete against the best players in other leagues within District 55. The teams are organized by age group:

  • Majors All Stars (11/12)
  • 9/10/11 All Stars
  • 8/9/10 All Stars
  • 8/9 smAllstars

District 55's All Star tournaments will be held from June 23 - July 12. Teams that win D55 will go on to sectional tournaments later in July.
